Really Good RH Fantasy with Dragons

I would give this book 4.5 ⭐️ if I could.

I looked up the word Báirseach and the word means bargain, other meanings are witch and dragon. This is the essence of this book, a bargain between witches and dragons.

Sage is member of a coven, but she has no magic. She is Mundane. Her coven still needs her and she is a valued member of the coven, even without power, but she still feels like an outsider sometimes. Her role within the coven is protecting and raising dragons from their eggs. There is a bargain struck long ago between a witch and the dragons. The dragons would give the coven three eggs to care for. They would carry the eggs to the lava lake and help the eggs hatch. They would raise the hatchlings and one dragon would bond with a Champion to help protect the witches and the other two dragons would return to the wild, after providing more eggs.

This story follows Sage and three men who aid her in her work to protect the dragons. They face many unexpected challenges and Sage finally has to accept that even though she was born without magic, it doesn’t mean she has no power.

This is a really good book. It has interesting characters and the world building is excellent. I love the idea of a non-magical witch, for once, not being treated badly by her peers. I liked that she’s 27 and has a job that is valued and that she is good at. I also like that she doesn’t tolerate her boyfriend treating her badly.

The relationships between the dragons, the magic and Sage is cleverly revealed. However, I feel the characters could have been explored a bit further. There wasn’t a lot of depth to anyone except Sage, which is why it’s not a 5 ⭐️ read.

Other than that, it’s a r
