Review: The Halfblood's Hoard (Halfblood Legacy Series Book 1) by Devin Hanson

The Halfblood's Hoard The Halfblood's Hoard by Devin Hanson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Interesting Take on Urban Fantasy

I’d probably give this 3.5 ⭐️ if I could.

Alex is a PI who deals with the supernatural side of things from the point of view of a human. At least she thinks she’s human. She’s a few days away from her 21st birthday when she has her apartment broken into and everything in it destroyed.

Homeless, she reaches out to a competitor/friend who allows her to stay with him and introduces her to a potential wealthy client. The client gives her an incredibly well timed job and reveals that she isn’t human after all and on her 21st birthday she will come into her powers as a lilin, a descendant of Lilith.

I really like all the plot and mythology surrounding this story. The plot was complex and the world building was interesting. I just felt I couldn’t connect with Alex. She didn’t feel real to me, sadly, because I loved the premise of the book and the plot pulled me on.

I may read the next book in the series because I’m curious as to how the character develops and if she reveals more depth to her emotions.
