Review: Wicked Games (The Arcane Court Series Book 1) by Dagmar Avery and K Margaret

A Grand New Adventure

Alyx is a princess who is starting to establish a court, however she also is a warrior and has been keen to take up the challenge to search the world, both human and faerie to find lost hoards of treasure. The treasure isn’t always gold and jewels, but also information, which is sometimes much more valuable. One such hoard leads Alyx and her men, Khalid and Scur to visit the faeblin prince, Abaxley. Abaxley is half fae and half goblin and can read the scroll they found. Abaxley is supposed to be part of Alyx’s court, but he’s been resisting.

This scroll is the start of a new quest for Alyx and as usual she jumps in feet first all gung ho.

I’ve always like the character of Alyx. She’s fierce and fun with a lust for life. Her battling her brother Quinn, a member of the Queen’s court always made me like her. This book also helps us to understand her men better than before, which is what usually happens with spin off series. I would say as always with these books, you probably won’t understand a lot of what is unsaid in this book unless you have read from the beginning of these books, ie Slumber (The Sleeping Court Series).

I will warn you that there is a doozy of a cliffhanger, and I’m just glad the next book is already out or I would be cursing the authors!
