Review: Queen Takes Camelot: Gwen (Their Vampire Queen Series Book 10) by Joely Sue Burkhart

Queen Takes Camelot: Gwen Queen Takes Camelot: Gwen by Joely Sue Burkhart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tale of a New Queen

In previous books in this series we first met Gwen, a reincarnation of Guinevere of Camelot. She had been cursed by King Arthur for loving his knights as much as him and he couldn’t share her, eventually burning her in a tower.

This reincarnation was trapped by an oath, forced from her at age 13, to Elaine Shallott. She was forbidden to ever call her Blood to her, to stunt her power, and then passed over to the New York Queen to become a sib. Thankfully when Shara Isador took New York and bound all the previous sibs to her, Gwen gained the power over New York, which she was given to hold for Shara. She was free at last to call her Blood to her.

This twisted re-telling of the tales of Camelot is great fun. It is full of blood and sex, the way this whole series is. You can’t enjoy this book without having read the rest of the series, as so much is unsaid, without the backstory nothing will make sense. If you haven’t read the rest of the series, I highly recommend you start at the beginning, it’s a great series.
