Review: Family and Honor (Jacky Leon Series Book 2) by Kristen Banet

Family and Honor Family and Honor by Kristen Banet
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I Love This Character

I don’t know why I love this character as much as I do, I think it’s the blend of resentment for being forced to become a werecat without her knowledge, her determination to make it on her own and her conviction that doing the right thing is very important. She is loyal to those she cares about, and will always try to do her duty. She has been hurt through loss and betrayal by those she relied upon in her new life. I guess those are good reasons, oh and she’s deadly, that’s a good one to add to the list too.

Jacky is being thrust into the supernatural politics, that she hates, because she thinks she messed things up with taking Casey and her family under her wing. Two werecats are dead and no one knows why. When Jacky finds out her werecat maker’s eldest son has gone missing whilst trying to track down the killers, she volunteers to head out to find out what’s going on, because she is already on US soil. She gets Heath, Casey's alpha werewolf father, to come with her to introduce her to the Seattle werewolf Alpha.

This book really covers a lot of the back story of Jacky’s history with her werecat family and some of why their behaviour hurt her so much, and why they hated it so much when she took Casey under her wing. It also covers the growing friendship between Jacky and Heath and their increasing ability to work together.

Alongside all the emotional family stuff, there is death and dismemberment, violence and screaming, along with the odd laugh and innuendo. The plot is intriguing and shows us a lot more of the world in which Jacky Leon lives, revealing more about her character and the reasons why she is the way she is. The supernatural world that Jacky has spent so much time ignoring is a fascinating one, I enjoyed reading about how it is set up.

As with the first book in this series, it’s a great read, and I highly recommend it.
