Review: The Queen of Carnage (The Underestimated Series Book 1) by Candice M Wright

The Queen of Carnage The Queen of Carnage by Candice M. Wright

Flipping Awesome Book!

I love MC Books. They are my guilty pleasure because to be honest some of them make me feel a bit uneasy about the way women are treated and referred to. This book takes away that uneasiness so well. It has all the awesome alpha males we want from our MC books and it also has the cute but feisty heroine who gets roped in despite herself. But it also has an informed and strong heroine who has no problems articulating what she will and will not tolerate with regards to the treatment of women and what the consequences of crossing her lines in the sand will be. She doesn’t threaten she just tells that what will happen. I LOVED that Luna is a true feminist who believes that all women have a right to do what they want with their own bodies, be that being a club whore, or being someone at a party who changes their mind when things go further than they want them to.

Luna is a 27 year old woman who makes gift baskets and sells them online and through gift shops. She is delivering a batch of baskets to one of her favourite stores when she sees a dog getting severely kicked. She waits until the abuser leaves and then cuts through the fence and steals the dog. Sadly she gets caught by bulky men in leather cuts and dragged back to the club house. She is told she has to stay for 30 days and help around the clubhouse to compensate for the theft of the dog.

It turns out this is an unusual MC that has some odd bylaws about the men in charge having one old lady between at least two if not more men, supposedly to bond the brothers more firmly. Therefore it should come as no surprise that there is a group of men interested in Luna.

I love the name of this series, “The Underestimated” as it matches Luna completely. She is short, cute and bubbly. She is also calm under fire, strong and fierce. There is a lot about Luna that you don’t see initially and it’s only as the book progresses that you understand more about who she is. However, right from the beginning she is funny, which always makes for a more entertaining read.

There is a lot happening in this book, with quite a complex plot. The characters are all interesting and a lot of stuff happens that you really don’t expect, which I loved.

This is definitely a book that is worth a re-read in a few months I think. I really hope there is another book in the pipeline in this series, because the set up for the next book is brilliant. So assuming it’s going to be a few months before the next one is out, I know I’ll want to re-read this book before reading the next one to remind myself of who everyone is and what is going on, especially as this book is quite complicated. I love it when I can really enjoy a re-read and this one will definitely work for that.

So in summary; great fun, sexy read, interesting characters, complex plot and great set up for next book in the series, so read it.
